This paper presents a study on the influence of environmental parameters on ground water quality in MLK (PG) College, Balrampur (U.P.). Ground water samples were collected from different points in the college campus and their quality was compared on the basis of water quality index, which determines the water quality for drinking purpose. WQI was determined on the basis of various physical and chemical parameters like pH, EC, turbidity, TDS, acidity, alkalinity, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, chloride, nitrate, sulphate, iron and dissolved oxygen. These parameters were determined for the calculation of water quality index (WQI). A comparison of the quality of ground water of five different locations of the college has been made.Full Text

Microfinance has emerged as a medium of extending financial services to the unbanked sections of population. In India, microfinance evolved in the late 1980s and exists under various legal structures such as Trusts, Societies, Section 25 companies under Companies Act 1956, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and Non-Banking Financial Companies - Microfinance Institutions (NBFC-MFIs). Sustainability and outreach are widely discussed issues in the field of microfinance today. An MFI cannot help the poor in the long run, if it cannot survive in the absence of financial resources. In this paper, the link between financial sustainability and outreach of MFIs is analysed.

With the rapid development the society the persons are having feelings o f sadness, loss, anger, or frustrations which interfere with everyday life for an extended period o f time resulting in the appearance o f various psychological problems, out o f which depression is most common having a prevalance o f 15.1% in India. Severe depression causes various physiological abnormalities leading to various co-morbid conditions. But there is very little literature available about moderate depression; hence the present study is designed to study the effect o f moderate depression on the autonomic system by galvanic skin response and cold pressor test. We studied 40 male patients (to avoid gender difference) o f moderate depression and 40 normal subjects of* same age group at rest in supine position (to avoid posture effect). Galvanic skin response was recorded and compared between these two groups. Comparison of*these two groups showed that GSR is not significantly different in moderate depression patients than that from the normal subjects. Though the major depression is associated with various co- morbid conditions but moderate depression hardly affects the autonomic system. Hence it is better to diagnose and treat the depression at moderate state.Keywords

Introduction: - Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a noninvasive technique to measure parasympathetic activities of heart. In this study, we measured the Parasympathetic activity in newly diagnosed patients of moderate depression by High Frequency (HF) parameter of HRV. Depression is the leading cause of mental disability and by the year 2020, depression is projected to reach 2nd place of the ranking of disease disability-adjusted life year (DALY).
Objective: Parasympathetic activity in newly diagnosed patients of moderate depression.
Method:- this study was planned on 40 newly diagnosed male patients of moderate depression according to ICD-10 (the international classification of diseases-10) taken from department of Psychiatry PGIMS Rohtak and 40 healthy males subjects of same age group. High Frequency (HF) parameter of HRV was recorded by using RMS polyrite machine.
Result: - The HF (ms2) component in frequency domain of HRV in patients of moderate depression in group II (166.55±41.48) compared to normal subject in group I (179.48±41.68) which reduced but not significantly. The HF expressed in normalized unit (HFnu) and group II (35.30±12.58) were compared to Group I (38.74±1276) and which reduced but not significantly. And HF expressed in power percent (HFpp) and values of group II (18.83±5.04) were compared to the Group I (20.58±5.02), the reduction was not significant.
Conclusion:-We found that Parasympathetic activity was not reduced significantly in patients of moderate depression. So the parasympathetic activity is not a problem to cause cardiac disease in patients of moderate depression.
